With a love for adventure and the great outdoors, we decided after 7 years in Central London that we were finally ready to leave the bright lights.

We started sharing our ideas and reaching out for advice from friends and family. Spurred on by their genuine excitement, we decided that it was now or never. With family roots in Snowdonia, we decided there’s no better place to start looking. The idea of one day creating a home away from home for curious explorers with a sense of community and creativity being at the very core was born.

Every spare minute we had, we searched for that perfect building or space; from chapels to banks, via the shiny and new to the charming but abandoned - everything we saw was a possibility for us. And now here we are. Located in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park with a space that we feel proud to now call home.

We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone that has listened, advised and guided. And let's not forget, to those who are about to join us on this journey. May it be a great one.

History of the house

This charming hostel was originally built as a private house in 1903. The house was then enlarged into a private hotel in 1928, acquiring the name 'The Guest House'. The YHA took over the reins in 1946 and it became Plas Curig YHA hostel. From hotel to now a privately owned luxury hostel, this house stands proudly in the heart of the Eryri National Park.

The area itself is steeped in history with little Saint Julitta's Church, whose Celtic foundations date back to the 6th century A.D. The village of Capel Curig is surrounded by the Glyders, Moelwynion, Carneddau and Glyderau mountain ranges and the beautiful twin lakes, Llynnau Mymbyr.
